Wife rode my Gixxer for the first time.

Didnt get any pics, but she rode it up and down our street a few time. She probably never went over 20mph. I was actually impressed with how she handled the bike. I was very nervous about her taking it out, but I flipped in into C mode and I knew she wasn't going to go over the 25mph speed limit on our street.

She thought my bike was uncomfortable and complained that she couldn't see her feet when riding...... Uh no shit and you need to keep your eye on the road not your shoes anyway. :panic: LOL

YAYYYYYYY!!! Good for her!!!

 well did she take her MSF on a cruiser? If she did, and her feet were out in front of her, she probably just got accustomed to looking for the pegs to make sure she was on them fully. I'm sure with a bit more time on a sportbike, she'd outgrow that.

I still think you need to get her a new Ninja 250!! :rockwoot:

She rode a nighthawk 250 in class.

 I have NO idea what/where the foot positioning is on those.

Slightly forward almost like a dirt bike.

Awesome! She is braver than me! I still wont get on my husband's GSXR 750.

WildKat 08-05-2008 12:38 AM

My wife can barely touch the ground on my Kat and it's far too heavy for her to feel comfortable on it if she could. She was barely able to even touch on a Gix 600 so when/if she decides to take the leap it won't be on anything of that nature..LOL.

Congrats to your wife, she's now hooked

Didn't know the 750's came with the power modes like the 1k. Cool.

Even the 600's do now...which is officially retarded.

Yup.

Yeah the C mode on the 750 is really tame, cant imagine what it's like on the 600.

BobTheBiker 08-05-2008 01:54 PM

those tuning mode things are kinda dumb to me. I really dont understand the purpose of them anyways. if you want the power of a 600, buy a 600, not a 1000.

Supposed to be for track days. On a wet track you can select a different mode. All they do is lower the throttle response. The top end is still there, it just doesn't accelerate as fast.

I agree. Pretty much gay.

Doesn't matter to me, I leave it in A mode 100% of the time so I don't worry about it. It's nice to have it you ever do a track day in the rain though.

marko138 08-05-2008 02:35 PM

Fair enough....but I'm not a fan of modern electronics. Takes the control and excitement out....and it takes less skill to pilot the machine.

DLIT 08-05-2008 04:03 PM

I like the option of putting it in C and riding in the wet. Just to see the difference. You wouldn't catch me riding in the wet anyway though.

why not? theres no law that says you have to crack the throttle as soon as you get on a sportsbike and even if you did it should only be a bit snappier than you are used to

That's very true. On these bikes you have to try to go fast. Even in A mode if you keep the bike below 6K rpm which is easy to do, its pretty noob friendly, once you crack 6500 all bets are off though and it's go time.

I scarred myself on an 01 F4i 600 when I first started riding last July. I was in a parking lot and opened the throttle a little faster than I had expected and gave myself a good little scare. I have done the exact same thing on my FZR and the bike barely lurched. I know that I now have a years worth of experience and I could probably handle it...but I like my "slow" little bike for now.
