woke up this morning and opened up all the boxes that were waiting for me :D
http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/8923/1003484de7.jpg frame sliders, solo seat cowl, new front fairing, M4 exhaust, MotoGP tix, also tank pad. can't wait to get it all on the bike |
Very nice but how you puttin the tickets on your bike?
|
There is a little red band that goes with em. It looks really cool around your handlebars.
Congrats man. I'd look like a little kid with a new toy right now. |

well i just spent about 3 hours working on it. most of the time was spent getting the front fairing off, and then putting the new one in. also put on the solo cowl and the tank pad. still to come, frame sliders (because ACE hardware didnt have blue loctite in stock) and of course the M4. but so far she's looking better :D
pics: http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/IMG_1010.jpg replaced the upper http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/IMG_1011.jpg seat cowl - it doesnt quite sit flush on the tail, but i've heard of a way to fix this http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/IMG_1013.jpg old exhaust, soon to be gone... http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/IMG_1012.jpg tank pad http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/IMG_1009.jpg |
so when you killing the mudflap and reflectors??
|
today i put on the sliders... took 5 mins, Now im working on the fender, i picked up a metal bracket from home depot which is pretty much perfect and I also borrowed a dremel from a friend. all im waiting on is that i need to make a large rectangular hole in the metal bracket to fit the license plate light... no idea how to do that so I'm going to the hardware store tomorrow to see if they can help.
M4 is (hopefully) going on tomorrow. Cutty did u ever drop the entire exhaust off the bike? only problem i see is the clamp for the rear header is kinda hard to reach. other than that the install seems pretty easy |

looking good! gonna do lower fairings?
|
hmm.. metal cutting disk, I'll have to see if i have that in the set. the cut off wheel barely made a scratch on it
i might do lower fairing in the future, but not this season. |
nice, the newer sv's look really good full fairinged. ive been kicking around the idea of snagging a 1000 as an alt bike

She looks great, can't wait to see the new exhaust!

No lowers. Go naked.
|
what my bike looks like right now
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/100_3485.jpg dropping out the exhaust system is actually not too hard, the clamp to the rear header is a bitch to get at but luckily i'm skinny  i'm about half way through cutting the pipe - after thats off, and I sand it down a bit, I think its pretty straightforward to install the slip on. then more swearing while i try to mount the whole thing to the bike - and im done. |

Hold the new pipe up, visualize where you need to cut it (remember it needs to slip over part of the header) and then measure to double check it. Here is a somewhat decent pic of right after I got it on. There is about 2" of the header pipe in the slip on. Pretty much cut right behind the rear brake light switch. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...2/bike2002.jpg |
yeah I know i could do it that way but i didnt want to scratch up the swingarm or anything. its really not all that hard to drop out the system.
also, I just couldn't resist starting it with the pipe off... holy crap that sounds good :rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot::pat::dthumb: |

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/100_3492.jpg all thats left is the fender...the exhaust sounds sweet!!! |
that m4 looks badass

working on it. I hit a snag but hopefully it should be all done tomorrow. I also need to paint it black or something... its gonna stick out too much if its left silver.
|
Looks Sweet Good Work!!
I'm In agreeance with Losing the Rear Fender but your already working on that so make sure you post Pictures when your all done :) |
That pipe's fucking sweet, I really like the high mount M4s for those (yes, I know yours isn't high mount).
|
:dthumb: looks good!
and yeah, they are loud w/o a pipe on 'em  (front reflectors) |
LOOKS FUCK'N PIMP! yeah the fender needs to go... if you upgrade the rearsets... go black... especially if you get a lower fairing
|
everyone's always bugging me about the reflectors, i only kept them on for safety... but i guess they'll come off.
painted the fender last night, now just gotta drill some holes and mount it up. I agree with you ebbs about rearsets, now that the pipe is CF it really stands out. |
Looks real good. Leave the reflectors if you want. I did.
|
she looks great!! Love the cf and that style goes really well with the overall look!
|
thanks guys!

we'd rather be talking to you giving you shit about your reflectors... than be looking at your bike in a heap, and you in a hospital... because WE thought it looked better with out... ya know? or at least I would |
