I am ghey
OK, if anyone doesnt know PC is looking to get a sv, and my pig has been hit by a cop... i was thinking about replacing the pig for something a lil less maintance intensive, like say an R1 or zx-10, then i got to thinking, why not just pick up a sv? if she has one and i have one, making sure we have spare parts will be twice as easy, and (no i am not saying take parts from her bike to put on mine...)the tire life is alot longer on the 650 then the 51. thoughts, opinions, banter from the peanut gallery
yes i know its a step down, but :idk: oh and the insane gasmilage they get |
Straight homo. You know you don't want to sell the RC, but for PC to have a bike also, it is worth it.
|
i say whatever makes you happy. you have the skills to ride just about anything well, so go for what ya like. you seem to have good reasons behind your thoughts.
|
you are already gay, your choice of bike doesnt matter

:panic: i know you loved your sv, whats your thoughts? usually i take what ppl say online and just go with what i am going to do anyways, but i am interested in your opinion and i would be looking for a modded one instead of a purdy one... wera boards for the win |
If you have to ask then you already know the answer.....
How about an SV1000? Not sure how many parts are interchangeable with the SV650. |
yeah, but sometimes your just not in a postion to go through tires, chains, sprokets left and right
I make a whole whopping $800 a month right now in grad school, budget is tight and 50mpg>30 mpg, getting 8,000 miles out of a set of pp instead of 2k would be nice and im looking at bikes already set up |
I would definitely go for the SV650.
|
What's wrong with a SV1000?
|
my thing is i love raping the big pig, i was just starting to really feel comfortable with it and 20k miles later i was finally settling down and getting to know its nooks and crannies, am i going to hate moving down to a sv? TN is full of twisties and great roads, its not OH where its straight and fast, here its curvy and fast... so many diffferent options
Quote:

You may regret it, but like you said, there's many twisties in TN. You won't need all the 51 power to enjoy the 650, I guess. Throw a GSXR suspension on it and you'll be set.
|
why not just go back to an I4 600?
|
i like the idea of having the same bike as her so instead of having back up parts for two seperate bikes, one stash will work for both bikes
|
I loved my SV, but much happier with my 600.

mmmmm.... this is getting interesting....

See if kyle will let you test ride the SV that he is selling that is already modded and go from there.

as for switching... I ride the SV sometimes still. I keep trying to twist the throttle past the stop lookin for more after getting off the buell. For mileage, I was getting low 40's with it. Comonboys is a bit gentler with her riding style, and it getting higher 40's. How is the RC so maintenance intensive?? Other than gas and tires? Not sure how an SV will wear tires, had the stockers on there till now (12K) and putting roads on as we speak. IMO switching to an SV... you would get by, but you would miss the hp and shear grunt of the RC |
maintence is actually nill... other then a new chain, rear sproket and tires i havent done jack shit for the entire 20k miles i have put on it (other then change the oil)
|
Quote:
Gas mileage -> +5 Tire life -> +9 (roughly double) Insurance cost -> ???? Fun factor -> -5 Cool sound -> -2 It's all on you. I would have a hard time going back to my SV full time after riding the Buell. But then again, this is ND, and twisties are lacking, so brute HP is a definate bonus. |
Quote:
And the SV1k should be signifcantly faster than the SV650... It's got like 45 more HP! Quote:

Kyle's bike is probably the one Drewpy is looking at. It's light years beyond the gixxer suspension setup. Traxxion front and penske rear shock is about as good as you can get suspension wise, besides maybe a ohlins rear keeping the same traxxion front. The bike doesn't need better brakes, it's a SV, they work good enough because with that bike you really don't need them.
If you lived closer to the gap where the drop in power wouldn't be an issue I would say go for it, but you don't. You live in sweeper land, if you want to keep riding fast you probably are going to crave something more powerful. If you want a fun commuter bike, that will also carve the shit out of some tight twisties, the Kyle's SV is #1. |
Fucking faggot.
Keep the RC...don't be such a ham fist. You'll save gas and tires, and still have a cool bike. Faggot. |

after all this thinking, the rc is staying, putting a pc3usb on it, pazzo's and maybe, maybe some aftermarktet clip'ons
the thought of going smaller is not a good thing for me, i like smoking the rear tire coming out of the corner |
I was gonna say... the sound of the Sato's would have changed your mind

PC gave you your balls back long enough to make a wise decision!! :dthumb: |
what the deciding factor was: its a fucking RC51!! no longer made and have a nice pedigree, how many do you see every day?

i just dont know about the satos right now, $900 bucks is alot to a poor grad student, maybe for christmas

so do you have the pig back or what?
|
its still in the shop, but its just there because its actually safer there then in the apt lot... i will prolly end up picking it up tommorrow... its going to be making the indy trip as is...
|
but buying a sv1k is a option, if only to piss off osp...

me thinks someone may be fixing a bike by themselves, while i'm out riding. |
Watch Super ride his SV Drewpy.... You will be sold. He is sooo fuckin fast on that little thing, as are so many dudes at the track. It just eats the corners if you dump the right parts into it.
|
i have seen modded sv's in action, justin and kyle both are really quick on the gap with theirs... both faster then me
|
and i'm gonna be faster than you when I get mine...
|
Quote:
|
i think you misunderstood, all i was saying was that i have seen sv's in action, thats all, i do not think me buying an sv would make me faster or they are better bikes... RC>SV
|
Oh I understood, my friend.
|
now i just have to worry about pc getting one and running me down in the straights...:?:

haha, PC's callin you out |

How about a 1984 CB700 SC Nighthawk?? It has 50 more CCs. That means it will go faster...and it's red which adds 10 more ponies under the gas tank.
|
i would greatly love to have the nighthawk... great second bike
