Anybody had experience with Motivation frame sliders?

I'm looking at their no-cuts and they have some beefy adapters that hug the frame proper-like. Anybody ever been down on them? How'd they hold up?

If you want no cuts, I would look into R&G. www.cyclesector.com sells them and I have used them and they held up excellent. Very beefy adapters that wrap around the the frame.

I would say these were responsible for why my race fairings are in as good of condition as they are in after going down.

I don't think those are no cuts trip... the bottom says *Modification of LHS panel required

Trip 10-05-2008 05:18 PM

cyclesector even has some decent looking case guards for the R6 made by R&G and some kind of lower frame slider. First time I ever seen that.

Harris no-cuts FTW!

DLIT 10-05-2008 07:13 PM

Found this on the Harris website:

"Lowsided at Barber and the left side bracket (the no-cut bracket) snapped off leaving the left side to slide without slider in tact. The frame bolt stayed in ,but the bracket just not sturdy enough to with stand a crash."

Looks like I'll pass.

quick google search... just for some more options...

here's the motivation ones...

the reviews are a little odd... one says these sliders will make the R6 more comfortable...

I've said it before and I'll say it again! Don't fuck around, don't get no-cuts, get Woodcraft!

I lowsided in T1 at JGP on my GSXR and the slider saved my bike. I lost the front at over 100mph and the bike was fine! I lowsided on the street going about 20mph and not only did my "no-cut" break, but before it broke the mount rotated around and cracked my fairings from the inside! It completely fucked up my fairings.

They're specially designed, two-part sliders, with replacebale pucks. The pucks cost $15, so if you go down, instead of replacing the entire set-up, all you have to replace is the puck. Plus the design is such that it's a LOT stronger than most and it's very easy to replace. The owner of woodcraft is a professional racer, and thought that most of the stuff out there was crap, so he started his own company and made his own parts. Check them out:

Clicky!

I agree, Woodcraft FTW! No-cuts are the devil.

Hmmm... I'm sorry. The bracket for my bike is 3/16 thick steel that wraps around the frame at the corner. I admit that I ASSumed that they would make one just as sturdy for your bike.

Mr Lefty 10-05-2008 08:46 PM

Tigger also depends on how the frame is... ya know... it may be easier to make the slider sturdy on yours and it be a no cut... but for the R6 it may require it to be a bit weaker to allow the no cut.

:idk:

Believe me, I know all about the rep of no-cuts vs. cuts. They make no-cuts that mount on very sturdy adapters now and that's what I'm going to get. I'm well aware of how good Woodcrafts are, had two buddies go down on them, one snapped and one held up fine. the one that snapped wasn't a no-cut either.

You are probably right... Hey Dlit,I came up with this super easy way to mount sliders on your bike. You take the fairing piece off and set up a laser pointer to the center of your mounting bolt. Put the plastic back on and mark that hole and drill with the appropriate hole saw...

Okay, okay actually CEO turned me on to this method,I've never had to cut my fairing to install sliders(didn't realize until after buying Harris no cuts. GSXR1000s can use regular frame sliders without cutting anything. At most you may need to trim the plastic back a 1/4 or so.

For what it's worth,I'd go with Woodcrafts too! In fact, while I was checking for your bike I put in a $50 bid on a set!

Don't do it period.

You know the cons and you have the skills to do it right with the direct bolt slider. Small price to pay to leave on bike when sold vs. other possibility's.

Rider 10-06-2008 08:32 AM

Motovations are nice, but Woodcraft cut's are the shit.

ceo012384 10-07-2008 09:41 PM

For someone who does so many track days, is your stupid ass really looking at nocut sliders?

Get some woodcrafts you homo

:idk:

The problem is not only that they break off, they also rotate. And no matter how beefy the bracket is, it wont prevent the bracket from rotating. I had a set of no-cuts and they both rotated AND broke, which cracked and then rashed my plastics.

I hope those work better for you than mine did for me.

Do you not see how the adapter wraps around the frame? That should prevent the adapter from rotating. These aren't cheap ass Shogun no-cuts here.

PhiSig1071 10-15-2008 10:10 AM

The one's I had were vortex no-cuts. Also not cheap-ass Shoguns. I saw the adapter, but in my opinion, the way it's designed it's going to dent the frame around the mounting point if you go down. :idk:

All I'm saying is I hope you have better luck with your than I did with mine.

No... the adapter is going to get jammed into the frame and fuck it and/or itself up badly.

Get normal sliders...

Agreed. No cuts suck! Like you, I didn't want the hassle of cutting my plastics, so I went the no cut route with Vortex on the 05 R6. The bracket bent and rotated, scratching the frame. My plastics also got scratched. Send those things back, get regular sliders and then cut a hole in your plastics. I know you like your bike to look sweet, but you can make the hole look VERY clean. It's really not that difficult and well worth it in my opinion.

ceo012384 10-22-2008 12:49 AM

^yup. I cut my street and track plastics very carefully and frankly, it came out perfect. Looks great.

I'll say it again just for the sake of repetition: woodcraft.

Listen to this man he knows his shit. Don't believe it? I had no cuts up until my recent low side. The adapter didn't break but the fucking bolt in it bent like a bitch and sent the adapter into the frame. It's still there btw I'll take a pretty picture of it tomorrow.

azoomm 10-22-2008 08:53 AM

Huh, I've been very impressed with Motovation's products - but then, they're local and I've seen how they make and test their stuff. The owner is the shit...

DLIT 10-22-2008 09:03 AM

I put 'em on a few days ago. The things are solid.
