So it's really and truly time for........

... Nee to upgrade her bike.

Yup, after months of hemming and hawing, and HALF shopping, but not really shopping, we've decided we're gonna get me a new(er) bike.

Mainly looking at used R6's and ZX6R's (newer ones), but there's been the occasional R1 and ZX10R that we've found that are within budget, so... we shall see.

Just tired of messing with carb issues, and I hate that here we are in the midst of beautiful fall weather (PRIME riding season in FL) and my bike isn't running right. :panic:

So, wish me luck on my shopping adventures.... hopefully I'll be posting up soon with pics of a new pony in our garage. :)

the chi 11-05-2008 04:00 PM

Cant wait to see it!! :rockout:

Sixxxxer 11-05-2008 04:20 PM

Whats your Price Range?? There is a BEAUTIFUL 06 ZX10 for sale in my Area (Bit of a Hike but hey its worth it for a bike right??) For I believe 6300.

http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/...ad.php?t=66008

I LOVE that color

DIMford 11-05-2008 04:25 PM

:rockout: Hope to see it too Nee. If you want I can look around this area. I have found some awesome deals in the local Cycle Trader, that if I had the dispoable income I would already have a garage full of bikes.

BTW you want to get me one too?

neebelung 11-05-2008 04:37 PM

Thanks all... I'm excited...

Eh, ideally we'd like to stay in the $4K-5K range....might go as high as $5500 to $6K for an ideal bike/deal we just can't refuse.... (but yeah, Jersey is WAY too far to go for that bike... it's a beauty, but there's bikes in that range down here, too... when you factor in the gas and all....)

And as much as this is a "girl" thing to say, I am being picky about color (I'd like black, gray, red, silver or combination of those... reason being I LOOOOOOOVE my helmet and it's not even a year old, so I don't wanna replace it, and I'm tired of all my gear clashing with my bike, as it has with my Kawi all this time  )

Hmmm. yeah if you're seeing great deals up there, keep me posted. (it's not QUITE as far up your way as it is to go to NJ... I know Chris has looked at some in GA and the Carolinas and prices seemed a bit lower there than they are here).

azoomm 11-05-2008 07:28 PM

We have a CRAZY number of R6's up on CL here in Austin right now....

*wink*

fnfalman 11-05-2008 08:30 PM

You can find a used 3-years-old Aprilia Mille or Tuono for next to nothing.

DIMford 11-05-2008 09:55 PM

Will do Nee.

aprilias of that era use a rotax engine. prob not as hard as you think finding service

A Tuono wouldn't be too bad, but the Mille I rode would be a miserable daily street ride.

Eh, seriously, I'd rather have something we can (for the most part) manage to work on at home. (there's absolutely a lust factor there with the exotic bikes, but not too terribly practical, in terms of parts pricing, etc....)

Truely!! Big brother has to take his bike to tallahassee to get serviced...kinda silly but just part of owning an itialian in a small area with no dealers whereas all the rest of the stable can go locally to any of the area shops or a friends garage!

jeeps84 11-06-2008 10:18 AM

Parts for the Italian bikes may be more expensive but if you like'em. Dont be afraid to own one. They are not that much different to work on if thats your thing. Just get a good service manual.

I LIKE them, but I don't lust for them like I do Triumphs and BMW's. If I were to go "exotic," I'd go Street Triple. (just a bit rich for my budget at the moment.... )

dReWpY 11-06-2008 11:14 AM

i know of a 675 that would be in your price range

guy babied it, he was a gas corner hero in nashville, he didnt want much for it because it was a higher milage bike, but he never road hard or pushed it

Hmmm.......

Well, we've got a few good contenders we're looking at this weekend, but if they don't pan out for some reason, I'll let you know!!

dReWpY 11-06-2008 11:21 AM

i think it was 4k somethingishy

neebelung 11-06-2008 11:22 AM

DAMN!! Just how many miles does the thing have?? that's cheap!!

dReWpY 11-06-2008 11:26 AM

i dont remember off hand, he is one of those guys that wears a leather vest to show off his mia and pow and rides in every honor ride imaginable so the bike is pristine, it has a slip on and is the gold color, i just need to be squidly and roll up to the local seven eleven on a saturday and get his number for ya

neebelung 11-06-2008 11:29 AM

Yeah can't hurt to call him!! thanks!!

azoomm 11-06-2008 12:39 PM

Neebs, that would be the perfect bike for you.... and not that far away ;)

Dave 11-06-2008 12:54 PM

neebs you ever sat on a 675? Its extra tall. Sexy ass bike though. I still want to add one to my stable. Street triple too

I have, and it's actually one of the few bikes that's almost too tall for me, but.... it's still worth considering... *hmm*

My bike is almost too tall for me, as in i can't flat foot it unless my balls tuck into my stomach.

Do yourself a huge favor Neebs...Just scrape up the coin and buy a new CBR600...I would go for the antilock brake model. It will do everything you ask of it, last you a lifetime, and probably still be worth something when you decide to upgrade again.

Find you a used 07 or new o8 and be done wit it!

That'd be great.. .if I liked the CBR600.

Seriously, it's too tiny and cramped for me. I'm just not a fan of it. Pretty bikes, but not my thing.

It's not Chris holding me back; it's just finding what I want! Like I said, we've got a couple good contenders to look at this weekend.... might have something as early as Sunday (of course, since I'll be in training all next week, and therefore not online, you might have to wait a week for me to post up about it :nee: )

Shit. It's a shame that I'm not in a financial situation to get a new bike like I want. I'd sell you my R1 for a fair price. I'd even trailer it down for you. But alas.... I'm hoping I'll be able to upgrade next year.
