How many times ya crashed?

3 for me, 1.flipped a wheelie, 2.low sided, and 3.car cut across in front of me, i ended up sliding into the car and it ran over me, THAT SUCKS! between the 3, broke all ribs on left side except one, broke shoulder/collar bone twice, fractured pelvis, all kinds of stitches, lost a lot of skin on hands, arms shoulders, legs, concusssion, not sure what else

crashing sucks, being ran completely over by a vehicle really sucks! dont try it!

neebelung 12-09-2008 01:27 PM

Knock on wood, never. Yet.

I've dropped it twice, however (no-speed drops).

dReWpY 12-09-2008 01:27 PM

2 times that i can admit to on the street

t-homo 12-09-2008 01:27 PM

Zero so far.

Ninjakel 12-09-2008 01:29 PM

3 lowsides. 2 at higher speeds

speedylocksmith 12-09-2008 01:29 PM

once

Archren 12-09-2008 01:30 PM

Other than no-speed drops... 4 times. 3 of them were low-speed lowsides (all because of dumb, rookie mistakes or trying to corner too hard on cold tires). The other one was pretty bad (ran off the road into gravel, lost control, high sided, ended up faceplanting into a rock). It laid me up in the hospital for 5 days.

marko138 12-09-2008 01:32 PM

Twice.

Rider 12-09-2008 01:33 PM

Once on street. A hundred times on dirt.

Ducati Diva 12-09-2008 01:38 PM

None yet but haven't been at it long.

2 times this year...good ones to :(

5 all together :zowned:

Never. But I've been bucked off, stepped on, and thrown off more horses than you can count so maybe I already got all my crashing out of the way!

Falling off the mall carousel don't count :loser:

rogue 12-09-2008 02:00 PM

Twice on street. One lowside and one riding pillion with a friend in the rain. 200 plus foot slide with nothing more than superficial rash that bruised. My friend had no injuries, but his bike was totaled. :(

Hondahugger 12-09-2008 02:07 PM

Does rear-ending a Florida State Trooper count?

On the street . . . zero

In the dirt . . . ???????? Broke a few bike parts, but I haven't suffered any serious injuries so far.

RACER X 12-09-2008 02:12 PM

1x that was enough.

lauralynne 12-09-2008 02:14 PM

several 0mph street drops. one that broke my foot in several places.
2 track crashes. nothing broken

stay tuned *knock on wood*

JoJoYZF 12-09-2008 02:52 PM

1 so far. Low speed low side from turning into a friends gravel driveway and still touching the front brake like an idiot. Tire washed out and bike went down, I never even hit the ground.

Leon 12-09-2008 03:19 PM

A bunch of times, both street and dirt. The most memorable one was hitting a pothole at 80mph while doing a stoppie. Ended up sliding face first on my chest, rolled my shoulder to get on my back and saw the nice big TLR flipping through the air. Bike lands right on top on me. No damage to bike, a footpeg through the calf for me.

same here. one was a drop into mud, the other some little fucker knocked it over in a parking lot.

KSGregman 12-09-2008 04:29 PM

Alot on the assortment of dirt bikes and ATVs I've had over the years...

Only once on the street....showing off on cold tires....spit me off...shattered my hip socket on impact. Bike was whole again in a week-end....I didn't walk again for 3 months. Didn't walk without a limp for another 3 months. :/

Dude that's the worst feeling. I went off track at Roebling a few years back and got slowed down to probably around 40 before I hit the pile of tires. I went over the bars and thought I was ok until I looked up (backwards) and my 929 came down on top of me...:panic:

spierce 12-09-2008 05:30 PM

1 low side on a cold night with cold tires and one into the back of a car doing 1mph no injures!
had gear!

FT BSTRD 12-09-2008 05:50 PM

Once.

Sucked.

I don't recommend it.

BobTheBiker 12-09-2008 06:11 PM

I've crashed a few times.
first was going into my driveway at my old place, front brake while turning on gravel driveway=crash.
then I really overcooked it goin into a 90 degree left hander, target fixated and went off the road into the sand, got it kinda stopped/fell over at the same time, and broke a turn signal.
Then there was 32 year old tire on wet slick pavement turning left on my 75 Honda 550K, which didnt hurt anything.
THEN there was my experience with same tire doing 60 in a parking lot, slammed on the brakes, and the tire washed out on the same honda 550. this was a case of drinko drivo.(I know, big nono) NEVER doin that again.

I've also dropped my bikes a few times too.

PhiSig1071 12-09-2008 06:38 PM

Seven times.

First was a nasty lowside on a backroad in Ohio. Blind curve, gravel, slide, target-fixation, and finally ditch. Busted knee, back, and shoulder. Got a med-discharge from the Army.

Second was a nasty highside. Racing through an industrial park, back tire caught a painted dash between lanes, went sideways, highsided so hard I think I went two weeks into the future. Two broken ribs.

Third was a pretty easy lowside, oil leak, turning left at a light, down, no injuries, some cosmetic damage to the bike. Fucking no-cut sliders broke off at 5mph.

Fourth was getting bumped by a FHP trooper who thought I was going to run. With a passenger. On a bridge. Kept the bike upright and was half a hair from getting thrown in the back of the cop car because the trooper and I got into a screaming match on the side of the bridge.

Fifth was a lowside at Jennings, lost the front in T1. Over 100mph, slid for-fucking-ever (literally to the berm) and went back out next session with a new footpeg. My front tire was a PP2ct with four trackdays and about 1k street miles, rear had five or six days and 1k street miles. Good tires are cheap insurance. Ran my best lap ever at JGP literally the lap before the lowside. Crossed start/finish at a 1:29.8 and promptly lost it in 1.

Sixth was getting hit by a 2500-series Chevy Suburban who thought he belonged in my lane more than I did. Bounced off him, jumped a curb, came to a stop. Kept the bike upright, only damage was a cracked helmet and some cosmetic issues with the bike.

Seventh was a lowside in T10 at JGP. (Only wreck on the KTM so far) Trying too hard, slid the rear, tried to keep it in the slide but the peg ground down and levered the rear tire off the pavement. Bent the bars on the KTM.

:idk:

It is what it is.

DLIT 12-09-2008 06:41 PM

Once. A 10-15 mph get-off. I was still a noob and fucked up. Knowing wht I know now, I woulda made the turn.

Only counting street (no idea/count about my dirt spills):

About 20 something years ago, I had a "side-on" collison with a car on a Mountain Pass in Switzerland (nice hospitals in Switzerland).

I lowsided on a road that turned into gravel just before the turn.

I slid on oil in Thailand (small bike - but I was wearing shorts)

About 5 years ago, I got run off the road in the woods in Oregon (my choice: hit the car head on or go for the woods...)

was92v 12-09-2008 09:20 PM

Thats a hard question. Does something like I was pulling up to the front of a store and there is a girl in a mini skirt, (summer of 72') on a ladder reaching over her head in the door of a store. I didn't stop, jumped the sidewalk and crashed into the ice machine in front of the store. I landed on the sidewalk in front of the door with her looking down at me like I just stepped out of a space ship. Thank God for dark shields so she couldn't see who it was.. I jumped up, picked up the bike and rode away.

I'm really not sure how many times I've crashed on the street and road racing, but I would guess about 20-25 times. I've never really tried to count them. I can only remember about 7 or 8 that really hurt, well maybe 10.

Mr Lefty 12-09-2008 09:25 PM

once... looped it from a stop light... lack of concentration... let my attention and the clutch lever slip.

Once... Right hander... 75mph on Rt-56 in Hocking Hills... couple miles west of 664... hit gravel, ate shit, pulled myself together, road another couple hours with no front brakes.

I'm not exactly sure. I think it's somewhere around 10 or 12.

needlessto say, there are exceptions to every situation and opinion. i think its foolish to say "everyone will go down".

needlesstosay, i have had many EXTREMELY close calls and it was my quick assessment of escape routes and the quick processing of each moves' consequences that saved me each and every time. most riders would aimlessly swerve or yank his or her bike down, which you cant blame them, it's second nature. im not going to jinx myself and say "I'm not going down", but I am RARELY caught off guard in any situation. i have faith in my driving/riding. its not overconfidence, but its the surety that i know i can handle the stresses and potential dangers of riding.

and before im attacked, again, i know every situation has its exceptions and there WILL and ARE circumstances that would catch the best of the best off guard. so save it. however, i ride hard on a daily basis, not wreckless, just hard and smart.

theres a huge diff. between defensive driving and intimidated driving. i just figure that anticipating a future wreck falls under intimidating.

and its not like this is the only place i have been the out-cast for feeling this way, so im used to it. just about every single rider i have asked in person outside this forum feels the same way as you guys, so maybe (hopefully not) one day i will learn the true meaning of the theory, but until then, i'll stick to what has been working for me.

for those of u who dont know this is my asshole roommate talking shit about the comment "there are 2 types of rides those who have gone down and those that will go down" and since this convo about 4 months ago he has gone down twice both due to rider error

not really relavant to the thread but it reminded me of it

oh and buzz if u want to bump it

Never...and I ride hard canyon riding and track plus commuted for 2.5 years 75 miles a day in LA traffic splitting lanes.

I have seen many crashes occur right in front of me though..including one death. Wasn't pretty since the gaurdrail put a big ass slice in the dude.

LeeNetworX 12-12-2008 03:52 PM

*knocking on my desk*

I've never crashed yet. I've had some close calls that I've had to negotiate my way out of.

*knocking on desk some more*

z06boy 12-12-2008 04:06 PM

Crashed once after 4 days of riding a street bike. I was following too close and the truck/traffic in front had to lock it down...so did I and went down.
Road rash due to wearing a t-shirt and cosmetic damage to the bike.

Crashed once going too hot in a curve at dusk...hit some gravel...straightend up and went of the road into a ditch. Minor cosmetic damage and I was fine.

Got hit by a car while riding a cruiser...BAM...compound fracture of the femur...heel crushed...ankle crushed with foot turned around backwards and blowing in the wind...yep this one hurt a little. Bike was totalled.

First two doctors said to amputate at he knee because they didn't think they could save my foot. Third doctor said he thought he may be able to save it but not at that hospital so they loaded me up and took me to a 2nd hospital and I ended up going through 4 surgeries and had 2 skin graphs. Fun stuff right there !! :dthumb:

I remember while lying on the side of the road making a phone call to a friend to get up there and he said "well you can't be hurt that bad...you're talking to me and you're so calm". When he arrived on the scene and so me he about freaked !!

I still have my foot and leg thankyou very much. :rockwoot:
