Hennesy + GT-R = 700 hp
American tuning workshop Hennessey Performance is renowned for its work with the Dodge Viper, but now the firm has reworked the formidable Nissan GT-R - taking it beyond supercar performance and up into the hypercar arena. Starting with the 2009 model-year GT-R, the Texas-based company upgrades power to a lofty 700hp (522kW) - over 225hp (168kW) more than the standard car. Peak torque has also been increased to 630lb-ft (853Nm).
These figures are achieved through a number of upgrades to the GT-R's induction and exhaust systems, including a pair of new turbochargers, an upgraded boost controller, and new intercoolers to complement the blowers. Known as the Godzilla 700, the package is the second major upgrade that Hennessey has performed on the Nissan GT-R. The first set of upgrades increased output to a still impressive 600hp (448kW) and 570lb-ft (772Nm) of torque, and that model was known as the Godzilla 600. Pricing for the Godzilla 700 kit starts at $18,500, or $24,500 installed, while the Godzilla 600 kit starts at a reasonable $11,500, and $14,500 installed. Rumors of Hennessey working on a new upgraded GT-R have been around for some time, however no details on the specific outputs or the exact upgrades were available until now. Previously it was thought that Hennessey would rework the new Lexus IS-F performance saloon before the GT-R, but currently it seems as though the Nissan has beaten the Lexus to the punch. Nevertheless, a Hennessey IS-F is still expected to go ahead, and the planned modification list includes exhaust, headers, and intake upgrades, and possibly a supercharger kit. This should give the IS-F even more potent performance than its 417hp (311kW) already provides. All Content Copyright 2006-2008 Motor Authority http://www.motorauthority.com/hennes...ssan-gt-r.html |
wonder how quickly the tranny blows out on that after pushing the "voids warranty" button.
|
Do they offer replacement trannies too?

I guess the point was - with an already suspect tranny that has a "press this button and it voids your warranty" feature - adding another 200HP (or so) without any mention to updating the transmission is probably a recipe for disaster. Similar to fooling around with the other type of tranny that was suggested here - nothing but "wrong" can happen.

OMG!!! Hahahahahaha  |
HENNESY is a POS... I'll try to find the thread... but dude is a scam artist. he was on a Christler board 300 I think when people started asking about their cars...
turns out he was taking them in... for minor work... then selling stock items like the hood off the viper (stock hood is work $10k easy) then sweet talking them into a CF hood... or stripping one customers car to finish a previous members car. there were SEVERAL diffrent forums with huge threads on this... http://www.carforums.net/showthread.php?t=15083 Quote:
even if it's just a few people bad mouthing Hennesy... on the 300 forum... he responds... and I have to say he's a no class POS. |
here's the Auto week article
http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content...._code=04383484 and here's the 300 forum thread I was talking about http://www.300cforums.com/forums/gen...own-board.html and Piz gets credit (as always it seems) with the find |
autoweek link is bad
not that i'm defending the guy, cuz i don't know him, but i did see his name at the top times at a local go-kart track back in tha day .......but that lawsuit was back in '01, anybody know the outcome? |
no idea... yeah I can't find the origional autoweek article now... weird... I know when Piz first posted it I read it from the site... :idk:
the other thread I posted shows his true colors... and one of the posts... if I am remembering correctly (I'll go look now) has a list of his lawsuits... he had several. |
Im not defending the guy, but with 3000 people - there are bound to be some people who expected more than they got. When one is dealing with $100k+ vehicles, lawsuits get involved. Its a nature of the biz.
Per the guy who thought he was getting a stroker motor for 130k... those are things which are in "contracts" that one signs prior to handing over their amex card. Guys shouldnt "think" they are getting XXXXX - they should know via the contract. |

just from what he said in the 300 forum though... definatly would invest my money elsewhere... nor would I buy anything with work done by him (free advertisement imo) |
Iwould have to say dude sounds like a douchebag I actually have met steve saleen and he is a super nice guy. An 1100 horse viper would be undrivable anyhow IMO I think the competition coupe would be faster on the race track but the 1100 hundred horse gts would incrase the size of your penis.
|
Henessey has been a douche for years now.
|
The GT-r tranny is barely able to handle the stock engine and this asshole isn't beefing up the driveline?
|
I like the car and like what Hennessy is capable of doing with it and the Viper as well but wouldn't trust him with one f*cking dollar of my money period.
|
I wouldn't give him a penny. I guess he's exhausted all the Dodge/Chrysler customer base, and needs to find a new group of well-heeled enthusiasts to rip off who aren't aware of his reputation.

That's a lot of assuming for an established crook! |

one of the guys was talk'n about how he sent his viper in for some body work... and when his motor blew 3 weeks later found out it was swapped out as the numbers didn't match... :zowned: |
its a shame that ppl dont have the mech aptitude to do it themselves, or the time to gather the parts themselves and have it built near them.
instead they just throw money at a name, and sometimes the owner of that name is a fucked up crook and they get screwed |

I've driven a friend's GT-R, and it has PLENTY of power. I'd rather have a full factory warranty than more power than I can safely use. |

Nissan designed the GT-R's ECU to be unhackable. OK, they failed, but it's not as easy to hack as most cars. I'd suspect there are a relative handful of tuners nationwide who really know what they're doing w/ this car.
