Would you rather have a 2008 Caddy STS V-8 or 2008 Lexus IS350?
???
|
The caddy, hands down. been in both of those cars, the caddy is way nicer.
|
Lexus... hands down... made by toyota... can't go wrong... caddy may be nicer... but if I was investing my money... the lexus will hold it's value longer and be more reliable. :2cents:

Actually the Caddy STS is identical in dimensions to the CTS, but its 5 inches longer and 1 inch taller. The Lexus is 70.6 width vs. 72.6. And reliablity... http://autos.nytimes.com/2008/Lexus/...chRatings.aspx http://autos.nytimes.com/2008/Cadill...chRatings.aspx |

My biggest gripe about GM is their interiors. Ditch the cheap looking plastic (even in the Corvettes :panic:) and spend some time and money making the interiors look better. It's where any buyer is going to spend the majority of their time. |

I'm sure there's more to this story I'm miss'n... (passed issues :idk:) but you ask for an opinion... dude offered his... :idk: |
CTS-V FTW. That LS2 engine is SICK.

I'm asking $10,495, and that's w/ Akra Evo exhaust and many other goodies. Only around 2,700 miles, too. It's the best street bike I've ever ridden, bar none! http://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/968188018.html http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2101/...2482f53b_o.jpg |

There is not a car on the road that will not break down at some point. Without driving them both first I would pick the Caddy. James |
Very true... there's lemons of every brand... no doubt. but Toyota has it's rep for a reason. I wonder what the issue was with her car... just from general curiosity...
I've owned several Toyotas, Three GM's, and a Mitsubishi... two of the GMS were complete shit... the third was fine for me... but gave the people I sold it to nothing but problems... which sucks cause they're my parents. The Mitsubishi was great up until the transmission went out... then it crumbled. The Toyotas... worst I've had was a blown head gasket... and that was on a motor with 370,000 original miles. |

I just find it funny when someone says "You can't go wrong with XXXXXX". I don't care what brand it its, they all break. If a company can come out with a car that doesn't break and is within reach price wise with the avg person then the other companies are screwed. I had a customer at my detail shop. He said he was buying a car for his daughter. I knew he owned an old Dodge muscle car so I thought he would be going domestic. He said he was looking for a Honda and said you can't go wrong with a Honda. I tried not to laugh. He gave the car to me when he bought it and I detailed it before he gave it to his daughter. Over the next year he paid a few hundred dollars more in repairs then what he paid for the car and was still having a few problems. He said he wanted to sell it. I was thinking that he had almost everything replaced now so he should just keep the thing. It was all because of the belief that Hondas are reliable and don't cost much to run. It was an old Honda. My in laws bought a 98 Nissan Maxima in I think 2002. I liked the Maxima myself but I just couldn't bring myself to pay what they wanted for them. I bought a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue that was fully loaded. For what I paid for it I would have had to buy a 96 Maxima and it still would have had more kms. During the time we owned these cars we both has problems. Like I said they all break. But I think I was happier with my car. My father in law thought my car had nicer leather then his. And mine had some features his didn't have. In the end I think mine cost less then his and I did have a transmission problem with mine. A friend bought a Prelude and had so many problems with that car it wasn't funny. James |
The Lexus period, just because of looks. Both the IS and LS are so fricking hot looking.
The Caddy looks OK, but too square IMO. |
Without driving either, I'd say Caddy.
And for the record, I've owned three Toyotas, three Fords, and five GMs. Of them all, the GMs have been the most reliable, and only the Toyotas have ever left me stranded. ;) |

Nobody in the world would cross-shop between an STS and an IS. You should have said CTS and IS. If anything, the STS would compete with the LS, not the IS. |

more like 5 series to a 3 series |
If I were forced to choose between the 2 I'd go with the Caddy.
Toyota's are boring and lifeless to drive and the IS350 is designed for people who either have ovaries or think that Asian anything is better by default. If it were the older IS300, I'd choose that. |

For about the same money I'd rather get a Nissan 370Z or an Infinity G37.
|
Caddy. I absolutely LOVE the STS.
|
Can I say neither?
<---------------------my dream car. But, If I absolutely had no choice, the caddy. |

There are other cars for the $$$ that I would rather have but between these two I'd probably take the Lexus.
|
I rode in one of the IS 350's when the roomie was shopping for a 'nice' car.
I liked the comfort and the refinement of the interior, but I think the Caddy is a little more my style. |

well one does thirteens and the other signifigantly more. also, 3/4 of my cars are small 2 seaters and the one that isint glorifys in its "boat" status

The CTS is the same width...length of one finger is nothing. OK CTS vs IS...I'd take the CTS. |

give me a damn 6 speed but still... IS |
toyota really needs to do a back to basics sports coupe in the image of the 2000gt (one of the most beautiful cars ever to come from that region IMO) im of course talkin' inline six, independant throttles with minimal silencing and a six speed

they built them to last forever... now they've cut it back a bit... they're still better built than most others IMO... but not with the same effort or vision they used to... |

Ah I see...........in that case I'll take a Maserati Quattroporte. Fuckin pimp.

As for Toyota...doesn't matter how long that IS will last because I highly doubt that any owner will keep it past the life of the loan. (and somehow I don't see the IS as something the retirement "I'm gonna keep this car till they take my license away" is going to pick up) |

Um which one is worth more? Cause when you give it to me I'm going right to the dealership to trade it off on a new pickup.

I'd take the Cobalt across country before the Maserati for reliablity...but the Cobalt isn't a model either. |

The following is with every single option offered (except AWD since its not available on the Lexus)
Cadillac CTS, $43,580 Fully Loaded, 304 HP V6 Cadillac CTS-V, $64,300 fully loaded with pavement blistering 556 HP Supercharged V8 Cadillac STS, $68,725 Fully Loaded, 320 HP Northstar V8 Cadillac STS-V, $82,735 469 HP Supercharged Northstar V8 Lexus IS350-F, $61,945, 416 hp from a 5.0L V8 I am a complete Toyota product fan (I'm on my 8th Toyota product currently) so I thought the choice would be made easily...however, I am also a die hard Cadillac fan who was raised on their old "The World's Standard" slogan which was true back in the day and have had about 8 Caddies as well, some much older (pre-1977 and a few newer (post 1990 models) Cadillac and GM in general have put out some complete crap from the mid 70's to the mid 90's but have made great strides to not only bring back their previous owner loyalties but attract new younger clients as well. In today's economy, I would be more inclined to support the US manufacturer over the foreign any day of the week as opposed to the Japanese. So, my choice would be for the Cadillac. |

Again, I don't see why you guys are comparing the STS to the IS...........The IS is the SMALLEST of Lexus' four sedans. :idk:
And you can get an IS for as low as $32K, or $37K with the 3.5 engine. |
I'd rather have an 08 ZX6R
