How much do you pay to have tires put on?
My new tire thread got me wondering what everybody pays to have tires put on their bike?
Me $10 a tire |
Too much. I'm changing mechanics (ask me about the Master Cylinder rebuild he just did). :td:
I pay $20...but there is a place that I obviously won't go to that charges $48. :panic:
Depends. If I take the bike and tires for them to take completely do it, it's close to $100. :panic: If I take just the rims, most shops charge $20-$25 a tire. If I have a friend help me hand mount them, it costs me food, beer, and a few busted knuckles.
$0 Having friends that own their own bike shop are priceless. ;) He even balances it too. :D
At the Track is like $20. HD shop is $35/tire.
Neither the Yamaha/Honda or the Suzuki/Kawi shop will touch a buell rim :idk: Aren't they all the same?? Thinking about just buying a no-mar for myself, then I can do all mine and my friends. |
Sweat & a few cuss words usually.
I have my own changer so I am likewas92v and sweat a little and curse a lot depending on the tire. pilot powers go on real easy but I had a real battle withthe 2cts for some reason.

Mount, high speed balance, and getting rid of the old tires, $15 per wheel.
20 at Toads per tire. Free at Slingers if you buy em there. And about 35 a tire at the Harley shop. Guess where I go? Lol
I paid about 15 or 20 bucks a tire last time. Haven't had to change them on the Buell yet....
I paid $20 the other weekend to have a rear tire mounted/balanced.
people PAY to have tires mounted? I never spent no money, I always buy my own tires and mount/dismount em myself. balance too.
free to $20, depends on what I am in the mood to do and who I buy my tires from.

free when i do them myself... sometimes i'm willing to pay the 20 each at cycle gear...
I was PISSED in october last yer when the tire guy at the track charged me 50 bucks to change a rear for me... i'm never giving him another damn cent |
I do it my self.
I'm still looking for a good balancer I just use the bike with no spacers or brake calipers at the moment. Works though. |

$0.00 for me.... I have a tire changer and balancer, so I mount and balance all my own tires. Takes a lil longer, but I can do it at my leisure... works great!

What kind of tire changer do you have? |

Speaking of Dyna beads...I have some pretty good reasons why I won't use Dyna beads and don't recommend their product for sport bike applications. The abrupt speed changes can cause the beads to collect in one area causing severe imbalance during heavy breaking and acceleration. Imagine coming into a corner hot and dealing with a front tire that is an ounce out of balance... Also,as some of us have a penchant for doing long, high speed wheelies, which causes the front tire to stop spinning allowing all of the beads to "fall" to the bottom. Which would make the tire very unbalanced when you drop the front tire at 120 mph!!! Sounds like a tank slapper to me! |
I think it's about $30-$40 for both. I keep paying it as long as they keep doing the good job they are. Too many places I've been can't balance worth a shit.
well my buddy sold his tire changer, so i was gonna put them on myself after work, my boss ended up putting them on for me for $5 each, so hey thats fine with me
Free. A local shop usually hooks certain people up. I'm one of 'em. In regards to mounting/dismounting tires.
