Tape and Zip ties.
Lets face it. we all love the look of shinny parts and sleek corners, but when it comes down to it nothing beats the look of self fab'd parts. Zip ties and duct tape got me home from Tennessee last year... If I've spent 2k on new parts for my bike and 20 dollars on zip ties and duct tape, it seems the thing im always glad i have is the later.
|
Every bike I've owned has had zip ties holding something on.

I showed the wife a while back where the bag of assorted zip ties were in the tool box and she's gone zip tie crazy !! I'll need a new bag not too far in the future.

At first I was expecting a Dark Alley thread... I'm disappointed.

Duct tape and zip ties...best baby sitters I have ever used!!
|
No tape or zip ties on my bikes ever. I haven't had a reason to, but I know they are handy. It's best to keep a few zip ties with you at all times.
|
I've always got some with my tool kit, IIRC NtS used a few at the Dragon last year...

how long did that take to do?

Ive never had to use zip ties on my new bike other than to keep wires or hoses in place. However, my first camaro was a 81 Z28 and I kept a roll of duct tape in the trunk and I had 3 full bags of zip ties in there, (three diffrent sizes) and there were times I wouldn't have made it home with out them.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...y+wire+fairing there is a reason my bikes don't have fairings. |
My Liscense Plate is held on by Zip Ties.
|
The only zip ties on my bike are holding a few wires down.

My current bike's tail fairings are pretty well ziptied onto the bike on account of the tabs that are SUPPOSED to keep em there breakin off. fuck it, they work, and I'm good with that.
no duct tape, penty of electrical though holding various things in their places. |

The guy that previously owned my bike lost about 1/3 of the fairing screws on the entire bike. It was all held together by zip ties....
And I hated that. First thing i did was snip those damn ties and rip the fairings off..... |
i wouldnt ever purchase a bike w/ zipties on it unless i was paying the guy in wampam...

the X isn't for off roading... no matter how much they advertise it as just that... Zip ties are like Duct tape, Sea Foam, and WD40... mandatory items in your garage... but like Duct Tape... mandatory in every vehicle's emergency kit |

Mine were alright, then I installed HIDs and its insane. Wont have another bike without em.

Do like trip and put LEDs on your helmet. HID kits aren't that expensive, and i'm sure someone makes one for your bike.

I use zip ties in addition to bolts to hold my license plate on. Almost lost it once when 1 bolt fell out so now I keep the zip ties on there just in case.

Aside from holding various wiring, I only use zip-ties on my forks to see where I'm bottoming, and to keep the hamsters from flying off my spokes.
