Traitor!! Traitor!!
Scotty Bowman trying to keep low profile
CHICAGO (AP)—Scotty Bowman’s imprint on the Detroit Red Wings stretches back 15 years. It includes three Stanley Cup titles during nine seasons as coach and a stint as a consultant that was capped by another championship a year ago. Bowman left the franchise he helped shape to join the Chicago Blackhawks as an adviser and be with his son. Stan Bowman, in his eighth season as Chicago’s assistant general manager, is in remission after battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma the last two years. Scotty Bowman said being close to his son has been a “top-notch” experience. It’s also put him on the other side of one of the NHL’s oldest rivalries. Bowman’s vast knowledge of all things hockey—the Hall of Famer has coached nine Stanley Cup winners and been a part of two others—could now help the young Blackhawks in the Western Conference finals against the Red Wings. ADVERTISEMENT Bowman, however, isn’t giving unsolicited advice to coach Joel Quenneville. “I know all their trends and stuff, but at the same time he’s got to run his own stuff,” Bowman said on Saturday before the Blackhawks left for Detroit, where Game 1 is Sunday. “You can always get information. You have to process it. That’s basically what you have to do.” But Quenneville made it clear that Bowman’s presence has been a bonus as Chicago heads into its first conference final since 1995. “He’s been good to have around the first two rounds, too,” Quenneville said Saturday. “… He’s good and a lot more familiar with these guys than other teams, as well. He’s going to be useful in a lot of ways.” This season has seen the league’s youngest team emerge as a force again after missing the playoffs for most of the last decade. “I’m surprised, but at the same time the experience they are acquiring with each and every game and series is huge,” Bowman said. “I don’t see the team changing a lot. You have to add all the time, but this is a pretty young group.” Bowman’s assessments are highly regarded and so are his observations Detroit coach Mike Babcock knows that Bowman can be a huge asset in preparations. “Scotty is a book of knowledge,” Babcock said on Saturday. “No. 1, he’s got to be willing to share with you. No. 2, you got to want it.” Red Wings veteran Chris Chelios(notes) spent nine years with the Blackhawks and credited his old team for bringing Bowman aboard. “Scotty knows everything,” he said. “It was just another good move Chicago made, acquiring him.” Bowman said he’s tried to keep out of the way this season. And when he returns to Detroit, he’s going to stay under the radar if possible, despite all his old acquaintances. “I’m going to stay low,” he said. “I’m not going to hang out. I’m not on a goodwill tour or anything like that. I’ll see them after and maybe before (games), but not during.” |
Those are some hotttt guys right there. I wonder what they look like in the locker room after a nice long sweaty game. I bet they are all so dirty and hot and sweaty right before they go and take their showers.

It's great to see a lot of the ex Griffins(Detroit's farm team) doing so well. We are spoiled in GR getting to see the future talent of the Red Wings progress into standout NHL players. Go Wings! |

Crosby isn't playing well. Malking is playing better, but not great. The Pens are getting some shitty bounces.

Lets not talk about how Buffalo was robbed in 1999 by the officials too.
Fuckin brett hull:td: Tom |

And the Wings are not the Yankees of Hockey. You are aware the the NHL has a salary cap? They they don't buy championships like the Skanks do. |

Your a Fucking Idiot. You should know better than Anyone Since you swing off the cocks of each team member of Detroit that its not always the best team that wins it all. You really wanna know my take on this years playoffs?? Boston Should have been playing Instead of the Penguins...They played Phenomenal Hockey this year. |
Quote:
|
Right because Detroit is the end all be all of the Hockey world.
Your on Acid if you think the Pens are a better team than Boston. |
Quote:
Boston lost didn't they? They clearly were not the best team in the east. If they were they'd be in the finals. The team with the best regular season record is NOT the best team. I think Anaheim showed that when they beat San Jose in the first round. |
You really are Fucking Stupid Arent you??
I'll agree with the Pens comment, One of the Biggest factors Last year when the Flyers played the Pens in the East Finals was ice conditions, That rink looks like Shit after the first five minutes of play and the puck jumps all over the fucking place. And I never said Boston should have been there solely based on there record, There a better all around team than the Penguins... And to answer your question. 2005 |
Quote:
Okay seriously. You're nuts if you actually believe this. Case in point...Toronto Maple Leafs. Terrible team that haven't won the cup since.....um....I think it's 62 (could be wrong but I'll check). They are the richest franchise in the league and have amazing support yet they suck. :idk: |
67' They won
|
Quote:
OK, somebody eye poke the Canadian about how they have no real sports besides hockey. :bonk: And reading all this is entertaining as hell. Go Wings. :D |
Quote:
Playoffs just gets the glory though. |
Quote:
|
And if you wanna throw Stats Down, The Flyers have made the playoffs Every year since 95 (I think) except for 05' and 07' So Blow me Mr My team has a huge fanbase and money blah blah blah...Come to philly and watch a flyers game, its NOTHING compared to a Detroit game Im sure.

Fan support is what makes a team great. I still support the Detroit Tigers and they've sucked for 25 years. :lmao: |
Quote:
I wanna go to Detroit, family lives 40 miles from there. :D |
Quote:
No offense but Id blow my brains out if I lived where you live trip, But your used to what you have and Im used to what I have...So its like apples and Oranges. Its just slower paced down there and I was born and raised near the City. And Hey, The tigers did well Two seasons ago!!! :lol |
