My GF Is Officially a Motorcycle Rider!!!
Well, she took her MSF this weekend and went and passed her test this morning. I took her to a vacant lot and watched her for an hour or so. We also did a short jaunt up to her work. She actually does quite well and I'm sure that she'll be okay. Of course I didn't bring either my camera or my phone but I'll be sure to take some pics for all of you hound dogs tomorrow!

awesome, now let us know when she can legally buy smokes

Congrats man. Have you taught her your deer seeking abilities yet? |
Hahaha! Yea she's WAY happy and she is off from school for the next 3 weeks so we have some time to get her ready to ride that Baby Ninja to school!
Oh and Kaneman, I don't know when you took MSF but according to her it would have been almost impossible to fail. She sais she was in a class of total fuck-ups that constantly put their feet down. One guy dropped the bike... twice and he still passed so... Here's something that I don't like in a way. You take this class for 3 days and they give you a piece of paper and BANG see you later, you're a full fledged rider. No permit period or anything. It's written test and go at the DMV with a full license. I don't know if I agree with that. :idk: |
My instructors told us at the end of class that we were now ready to be on the road with traffic but we were ready to put in a lot of "legal" practice in a parking lot. They stressed that 3 days was not enough to make us good riders. I had really good guys teaching my class though.

Sorry to hear that bro. You're now ready to never enjoy a group ride again, ever.

Congrats to her :) WooHoo!!!
|
Awesome!
Moved to Street cause its MC and that section needs help! |
Awesome! Congratulate her for me and tell her she is now hotness squared! Be sure to keep her practicing the basics. Muscle memory is keen to save you in a panic situation. Oh and buy her some loose fitting Icon leathers!!
|
good for you - now you can keep her ass off YOUR bike and on HERS
|
:nothing:
:nopicsbs: |
Cool deal and good for her !!
|
congrats to her!! not to sound too assholish but I wouldn't let her ride alone just yet. (sounds like you think the same way) I don't think that class teaches you much in the ways of traffic and how to deal with it.
Yeah I know she's an adult and if she wants to ride alone she's going to.........been there done that LOL |
not sure what this thread is about, but i noticed there are 0 pics

Thanks everyone! I'm not letting her ride by herself for a while until I'm sure that she won't make any goofy control mistakes. I want to be sure that she is fully in control of the bike. I plan on a couple more parking lot sessions and we'll probably go out in the country today and put around a bit. I'm not one to try and control another adult (as you all know) but she has left it in my hands to make sure she is ready, so I'm taking the responsibility very seriously. I want her to be confident enough to go out and have fun but fearful enough to stay on her toes and not get complacent. Well, we're going out, I'll make sure to take pics. Thanks again!:rockwoot:

woot for pics!
|
Congrats to her. Whole new world has opened up for her.
|
Hooray! Another woman rider joins the ranks! :rockwoot:
After I took the MSF course, and graduated from the parking lot, Robert and I would head out early on Sunday mornings and ride out into the country, getting back just before Noon. Roads would be EMPTY. Cooler, too. |

Well, we just got back from her first ride and she did extremely well!!! Of course as Dave said, she has scooter experience and dirt bike and atv experience.

I'm trying to be an invisible training wheel, so to speak. I'm there if there are questions but I don't want to get in the way of growth. I tell her if I think that she is doing something "wrong" and I encourage her to make decisions and to take her time on the road. I had her lead all day and set the pace. Again she did rather well!:rockwoot: |

It's not about controlling her it's about being a buffer and being there to reassure if she needs advice. but it was just a suggestion for him..........just a thought |

Yea settle down Susan B Anthony! Yeesh... That's exactly what I am trying to do. If she needs my help or needs advice, I am there. If not, I am out of the way. If you look at the "action shots" I took, I stay way back from her and give her plenty of room to do whatever she wants/needs to do. If I feel she is making a mistake of some kind then I can swoop up and correct it. Case in point, the MSF instructor taught her to ride in the center of the lane (where all the oil and shit is!). I do not agree and have retrained her to ride on the left or right portion of the lane. The way I explain it is for her to stay in whatever portion of the lane that is farthest from potential danger from traffic. Usually the left, which gives you a slight buffer from idiots jumping in from side streets. |

Good for her. :beers:
I have yet to see another chick on a sportbike around here. I am sure there have got to be a few out there... |
Who took those pics ? Tig while on the bike ? Maybe you need to attend a MSF course.
I'm just joking around. My wife took the MSF course but we did quite a bit of further training after that before she was turned loose on the street.. We went to industrial parks and business parks for a few weekends. The MSF course teaches the basics which is great and I highly recommend it BUT it sure doesn't mean you're ready for the road just because you got the certificate. She's been riding for two years now and all has been good. |
