they're not adhesive... they stick by static... but don't move...

I had a tankslapper too and have nothing but good things to say about them.
The tankslapper product is static cling but the company will also sell you 3M adhesive backed film too.
I actually did a combo of the static and adhesive on my last bike.
Like ebbs said, if you weren't told it was there, you'd never know. I even told people it was on the bike and they still couldn't find it!
