I know what you mean. I remember my brother in law buying a Dodge Daytona Turbo Z and I had a Honda CRX that was hopped up with Webber carbs...a cam and a header (about all they had for them back then
) We raced and were pretty much even and then later got pulled over and BOTH given a ticket by the same officer for speeding. Live and learn.
I ended up owning 4 Honda CRX's with the last 3 being the SI (fuel injected) versions.
