I don't get the icon bashing either.
I have a merc jacket that's held up amazing well. I've never been down in it but compared to other textiles I've seen it's the same or better construction. Also can't seem to find the label in it that tells me it's not safety gear.
I think it looks pretty good for street gear and gives everyone more choice. I'm all for that.
