Well, AT&T
does have the fastest network, just not the best coverage. They have to come up with
something to combat Verizon kicking their asses all over the place with 3G coverage advertisements.
And for those speculating on iPhone's performance as a phone, it's known industry-wide as a low performer when it comes to phone calls. If Apple hadn't given AT&T exclusivity, I doubt they would have accepted it as-is. AT&T's network is also known for a high number of dropped calls, so it's not JUST the phone.
