I like the more subtle looks of the first one better, but the second one is thicker leather (as mentioned above), so I'd go with it based on that alone. And I've got a Power Trip jacket I've been very happy with (Power Trip is the same company as Joe Rocket, so if you've got any Joe Rocket gear already, then you'll already know how it will fit you, as their sizing is pretty consistent across both brands).

As for removing the stitching, I've got that same lettering across the chest of mine, and no, there's no way to remove it easily, without leaving a mess and damaging the leather, so I wouldn't even attempt it.
