This is key. My friend is in the same field and his married friends are quite jealous of how he enjoys his money.

Being married hasn't hurt me financially @ all.

The kid hasn't either, but the $1200+/mo. childcare expense hasn't started yet! (when it does, it'll be worth every penny)

If you can afford the M6 you can afford a ferrari just not a brand new one. Mantaining a ferrari will hurt the wallet alot worse than the BMW though. Ferrari maintanence is definitly not a myth.

The 2000 360 Modena is in that price range. If I'm right that your M6 was about $80000 after your discount.

But I don't want an old Ferrari. I wanted the 360 Modena back then. I don't want it now. Besides, I seriously doubt that I would consider taking that car for anything but a day trip. Cross country trip is out of the question on a Ferrari unless you're a millionaire and can afford a tow job when in the middle of bum fuck egypt.

That's right! My wife was going to quit her job to raise our son, but I have little job security w/ good pay. She has great job security (govt. agency) w/ OK pay.

We decided that maintining diversification of income sources is important in this economy, but we didn't want to sacrifice our child's care.

This one was recommended by a co-worker, and we never even thought to shop around for the lowest price.
