Sounds like typical Japanese when it comes to warranty.

All my vehicles have been GM. GM has never left me stranded and everything warrantied was always paid. Even a part out of warranty by 6 months was covered.

By far my best experience to date has been Hyundai but saddly they dont make a pick up
