It's an option... but they are choosing to not go through the hassle of hooking it up.
Claim they never use the rear brake w/o the front.

Huh... interesting. Mine are all more simple than that. Just remove the stock pegs and bolt on rear-sets. There was one "complicated" part that was a tiny little secure clip that had to be put on with dental tools. But, that was it. Electrical for the brake is not with the pedal. And, if I want to go to GP Shift, it's one bolt.

There should be a spring running to a wire that has a plunger like switch that sends the signal to the light.

Plunger is on the bottom... it's all contained. Just remove the old, and bolt on the new.
