Once again a lot of people claim that shaking is a bad idea because of things like the swine flu. My mother has been to a lot of seminars where they suggest people don't shake at all.

Now you done did it.... Gee I wonder how he should have greeted the Dali Lama, an Asian person, if he were concerned about making physical contact?... What respectful and appropriate greeting could he have used?... Hmmm... I'll wait while you think about that.

I see all of this guys as just another man. I expect you to show me the same respect as you would the Dali Lama if we met.

And I see a lot of crying in this thread but it didn't seem to me like the Dali Lama was upset by the whole thing.

BTW I asked my younger brother quickly on the phone what he thought about it. He hasn't heard about it but he didn't think it was disrespectful.

Not really because from what I can tell my brother isn't one to fist bump.

Hard to say what he will do.

I think its your mouth that makes you hate the fist bump so much. You never know who is trying to great you or trying to put one on your chin.

Can you show me an news clip where the Dali Lama says that he felt like he was disrespected by the Mayor?

And for the record I would not have tried to fist bump the Dali Lama. But I wouldn't walk up and try to fist bump anyone here.

Fuck it. How many people can say they got a fist bump from the Dali Lama? I can't.
