SUVs with 3rd row seating

We had one as our curtosy vehicle when I worked at a Mazda dealer.
It was actually pretty fun to drive, but burns through tires quickly, not sure why.
It was serviced by the book, and had no major issues. It had 42K on it when I left there and was about half way through it's second set of tires. Other than that, just regular maintenance. Mileage ran in the low 20's high teens depending on driver.
The seats became slightly uncomfortable for the long haul, but overall not bad.
