Why is it so limited? I mean chatterboxes a million years ago could do a few miles... or even 1 mile depending on model

I was wrong, it's 900 meters. Chatterboxes used frs or gmrs, not bluetooth.

900 meter is 0.5592341 miles. So that's not all bad.
